Apple

           It is very useful in decreasing the acidity in the stomach. It vitalizes the heart, brain, the liver and the stomach. It is appetiser & improves quality of blood. Fresh juice is very convenient for consumption. Good remedy for gout, arthritis, kidney stone, acidity, indigestion.

 BEET ROOT

Contents     -        Water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus,

Vitamin B, Vitamin C,

Qualities     -        It is oily cool, nutritious and a bile- controller. It

improves quality & blood.

Use             -        As salad, juice, may be mixed with the juice of carrot,

cabbage, mango & papaya.

Benefits      -        It is rejuvenating – It purifies blood. It is effective in

every type of weakness.

 

BILIFAL (BEL)

Contents     -        Water, Protein, fat carbohydrates, tannim, vitamin C

 

Quantities -        It is sweet, light, digestive, good for gastric fire. It

Destroys intestinal worm, stops nausea, vomiting & relives cramps of stomach. As per Ayurveda, it is effective in Tridosh (Cough, wind & bite).

Use             -        The pulp may be taken directly or in juice form.

Benefits      -        Blood Purifier, removes bowel complain, good in

Case of cholera, very good laxative.

 

CARROT

 

 Contents     -        Water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus,

Iron, Carotene (Vitamin A), Vitamin – B.

 

Qualities     -        Sweet, Warm, pleasant, stimulant of gastric fire, dry, appetiser,

Constipating and to some extent bitter. It gives relief in fistula, worms and dysentery. It eradicates windiness and cough. If taken in excess, it increases bile.

Use             -        The middle yellow part of carrot (root) should be discarded. It

is easy to extract carrot juice. It can be eaten.

Benefits      -        Excellent food for maintaining health of eyes. Carrots contains      

a hormone known as tocokinin. This is an insulin-like compound which has been proved useful in diabetes – carrot juice eliminates unwanted uric acid from the blood. Very helpful for gout – patients, remedy for gallstone troubles, liver diseases, tuberculosis and scanty menstruation. It is very useful in cancer case.               

  

Cucumber

 

Contents     -        Water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals calcium,

phosphorus, Iron, Vitamin – B.

 Qualities     -        Cool, sweet, relishing, light, diuretic, digestive, stimulant of

Gastric fire and constipating. Gives relief in arthritis.

 Use             -        As salad, juice helpful for health when taken in empty stomach.

This is low in calorie, good for reducing obesity. Juice with seeds in better.

 

Benefits      -        Good in rheumatic conditions, for uric acid, for loosing weight

& in diabetes.      

 

EMBLICA MYROBALAN

INDIAN GOOSERRY (AMLA)

Contents     -        Water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, fibrous elements, calcium,

phosphorus, Iron, Vitamin – C.  

Qualities     -        Taste in some wheat acidic, it is delicious and stringent. It

vitalizes hair and increases semen. It improves eye-sight and purifier of blood. It eliminates all the three ‘doshas’, namely, windiness, bile and cough. This is largest source of vitamin C. It increases bodies resistance against disease.

Use              -        As juice, powder or raw is also very helpful. If juice taken in

the morning in an empty stomach, bestows many benefits. 

Benefits      -        Juice is very useful in uric acid troubles, very useful for eye

weakness and deafness. It is very helpful in constipation, blood impurities, dyspepsia, jaundice etc. It gives relief also in the weakness of the nerves and the heart.

 

Fig

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Fibers, Minerals, Calcium

phosphorus, Iron, Vitamin – A. It contains plenty of Sodium, potassium, copper, magnesium, sulfur and chlorine. They also contain vitamin B and C.

Qualities     -        Very nutritious, relives constipation, cool, delicious and heavy.

They eliminate impurities from blood, sweet, soothing and laxative.

Use             -        Soaking in water (Dry Figs) activates the figs enzymes. The

water in which soaked should not be discarded.

Benefits      -        As juice a fresh fig is diuretic. It keeps the liver, the stomach

and the intestines efficient. It removes constipation, fatigue and weakness. It alleviates uric troubles. Small children and pregnant women gain vigour by the use of figs.

 

French Beans

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Fiber, Calcium,

Phosphorous, From, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin B2,

Niacin, Vitamin E.  

Quality       -        French beans are heavy, oily, cool, refreshing and antibilious.

                             The juice of French beans is useful in diabetics.

Use             -        Juice should be extruded by pounding. This juice has well-

balanced combination of nutrients.  

Benefits      -        This is used as nervous stimulant and stimulates the production

of insulin.

 

Garlic

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Phosphorous, Iron,

Vitamin C.

Qualities     -        Pungent, Warm, Heavy, Oily, Delicious, Medicinal, Digestive

and refreshing. It improves the voice and eye-sight. It bestows strength. It is laxative. It kindles gastric fire and is tonic to hair.

Use             -        May be take in juice form or as a paste.

Benefits      -        Garlic is sure remedy in cases of windiness of any kind. It cures

Paralysis, stiffness of the whole body, heart trouble,

stomach-ache and many other ailments. This is helpful in tuberculosis, good for cough, induces sleep, empowers digestion. Garlic prevents intestinal infection and vitalizes the intestine. This is excellent medicine for indigestion, dyspepsia, slow flow of digestive juices and gas. In wounds and ulcers, garlic is used for counteracting putrefaction. 

Garlic has properties to reduce high blood pressure and hence

its importance and popularity in the present has increased. It vitalizes the heart. In case of ear-pain and deafness a drop of its juice in the ear is beneficial.

 

Ginger

Contents     -        Water, Proteins, Fat, Carbohydrates, From, Vitamin A ,

Vitamin C, Calcium, Phosphorous, etc.

Quality       -        It is anti-rheumatic, stimulant, digestive, laxative, good for eyes

and throat. Its purgative properties destroy intestinal worms. Good tonic for intestine.

Use             -        Juice of ginger, mineral salt and a few drops of lemon juice

taken before half an hour before meals is very good appetiser. Ginger juice stimulates the secretion of digestive juices.

Benefits      -        This helps digestion and prevents gas trouble. Juice or small

piece of ginger before meals eliminates gas. This is helpful in oedema, uric troubles, jaundice, piles, asthma, cough, dropsy and other diseases.

A few drops of ginger juice poured into the nose give relief in headache. Toothache will be reduced if rubbed on the ailing tooth. Ginger also gives relief in catarrh and sinusitis.

Grapes

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Calcium, Phophorous,

Iron,Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Niacin, Vitamin C.   

Quality       -        Sweet, stimulating, soothing, beneficial to the throat, hair, skin

and eyes and act as an appetiser. Ripe grapes are oily, diuretic,

cool, refreshing. Helpful in thrust, burning sensation, fever, asthma, leprosy, tuberculosis, irregular, menstruation, voice trouble, vomiting, obesity, oedema, chronic jaundice, decreases gastric acidity.

Use             -        Natural form and as juice.  

Benefits      -        Good for removing constipation, relief in piles, dryness of skin,

dimness of sight and burning sensation burning sensation of body. Good for general weakness. This removes undesirable heat from body as the blood is cleansed and cooled. Very helpful in chronic  dysentery.

 

Lemon

 

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, fibers, Calcium,

Phosphorous from Vitamin C. 

Qualities     -        Lemon is sour, warm, promoter of gastric fire, light, good for

vision, pungent and astringent. It checks the excessive flow of

bile and cleanses the mouth. Help digestion and for removing constipation. Helpful in vomiting, intestinal worms. Though it is acidic to the taste, it leaves off alkaline residues in the body.

Use             -        One should not take concentrated lemon juice. May be taken in

water with honey.

Benefits      -        It is antibacterial. This is beneficial to heart. It helps in

preventing internal hemorrhage. Good for high blood pressure. Helpful in malaria, Cholera, diphtheria, typhoid, gout and rheumatism. Good for kidneys and bladder disorder. This is blessing for mountaineers. Edmund Hillary used this. It prevents vomiting and helps to cure hepatitis.

 

Onion

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Calcium, Phosphorous,

Iron, Carotene, Vitamin B, Vitamin B2, Niacin, Vitamin E. This loses vitamin C if preserved for long time.

Qualities     -        Vigour, luster of the body and mental power increase with the

use of onion. White onion is more useful. White onions are stimulant, vitalizing, pungent, heavy, and refreshing, stimulates gastric fire and lubricious. They produce cough. They induce sleep.

Use             -        As salads, the juice of onion with honey is more beneficial.

White onions are better.

Benefits      -        Onion juice with honey is good for visibility. This saves from

sunstroke. It is also beneficial in jaundice. The onion juice is very effective, vermifuge and is free from side effects. This is beneficial for aged, mucous is dislodged and fresh formation is prevented, also useful in indigestion and biliousness. Onion juice with sugar is good for bleeding piles.   

 

Orange

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Calcium, Phosphorous,

Iron, Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Copper, Sulfur, Chlorine, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin C.

 

Quality       -        Appetiser, cleanses blood, soothes bile and eliminates

windiness. It is cool, refreshing. It cleanses the month, good in fever, destroys intestinal worms, and strengthens the bone. Rich source of vitamin C. It contains less acid, hence regarded superior to the lemon. The citric acid in orange is acidic taste but it is an alkali forming food.

Use             -        May be taken by masticating or in juice form. For large quality

of nutrients juice is better. Those who suffer from cold should add warm water in juice.

Benefits      -        Good for constipation, asthma and other bronchial troubles,

during fever, digestion, increasing appetite, intestinal health, vitality. The orange juice is very good for pregnant woman. Good in chronic dyspepsia. The juice cleanses the tracts of stomach and intestine.

 

Papaya

Content      -        Water, Protein, fat, carbohydrates, Minerals, Calcium,

Phosphorous, Iron, Vitamin A, Vitamin C. Vitamin A is next to orange and C increases with maturity. The white (milky) secretion of raw papaya contains the digestive enzyme.

Qualities     -        The ripe papaya is delicious, heavy, warm, oily, laxative and

anti-bilious. It increases visibility, beneficial to the heart, beneficial to lever. Good for constipation and urinary disorders.

Use             -        Raw may be used in juice form. Ripe papaya may be taken

in its form. Papaya juice with water or milk is delicious and refreshing.

Benefits      -        The raw papaya juice is very good for round worm. Papaya is

Effective in liver trouble, menstrual flow, abdominal disorders, dysentery, hyperacidity, dyspepsia and constipation, anemia. Papaya is a diuretic hence beneficial in kidney stone. This is sure remedy for and constipation. Pimples are removed by rubbing the white pulp of raw papaya on the face. It brings luster and removes wrinkles. Seeds destroy worms. 

  

 

Pineapple

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Sugar, Calcium, Phosphorous, Iron,

Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C. It contains enzymes called “Brosmelin”, helps in digestion. It contains 12% sugar, of which 4 % sugar and 7.5% by sugarcane.

Qualities     -        The ripe pineapple is a diuretic. It destroys intestinal worms and

soothes bile. It is delicious and digestive. It expels gas. It is beautiful to the heart and effective in abdominal disorders, jaundice and anemia.

Use             -        Better in empty stomach. The upper rind and the innermost

flesh should be discarded Juice is better. Pineapple is not

suitable in pregnancy.

Benefits      -        Gives soothing effect to throat. It is good in diphtheria, bile,

intestinal worms and heart. It helps to remove waste product

from the body.

 

Pomegranate

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Calcium, Phosphorous,

Iron, Vitamin, B2, Vitamin C.

Qualities     -        There are many varieties, sweet, sourly sweet, but sweet are

excellent. They are delicious; light astringent, constipating and lubricous. They increase intellect. They vitalize, satisfy hunger. As per Ayurveda they are able to cure Tridoshan. They are good in thrust, burning sensation, fever, cardiac trouble, mouth-disease and vocal disorders. They help to reduce dysentery and increase blood and vitality.

Use             -        It is easily digestible though costly compared to other

juices. Only sweet should be selected. Very good for nutrition. Useful in all types of fever.

Benefits      -        Pomegranates are tonic for heart and for cardiac pain. This is

helpful for cure of vocal and mouth diseases. This has got soothing effect on the burning sensation in the stomach. This is good for increasing appetite and give relief in anemia. This gives good effect in diarrhea, dysentery and cough

                                

 

Potatoes

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Calcium, Phosphorous,

Iron, Vitamin A. This is alkaline. This is also a source of Vitamin B, Vitamin B2, Niacin and contains Vitamin C. All the virtues of cereals are present in potato.    

Qualities     -        Cool, delicious, heavy, dry and energizing. They cure leprosy

but promote cough and gas. 95% of potatoes is digestible. It is

completely absorbed by the body within two and half hours.

Use             -        It should be cut only when it is going to be used otherwise

loses vitamin C. if Potatoes is peeled before it is steamed or boiled most of its nutrients are destroyed. The Potato juice is very curative. If the potato is sprouted, the sprouted portion should be cut and removed.

Benefits      -        Potato juice is good in duodenal and gastric ulcer, constipation,

piles, Potato maintain alkali reserve in body. This is useful in gout. Potato juice eliminates uric acid, able to help in skin diseases, in eczema. Juice should be taken and applied also.

 

Pumpkin

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, carbohydrates, Minerals, Calcium,

Phosphorous, Iron, Vitamin A, Vitamin B (This contains more

vitamin B than other vegetables and fruits.

Qualities     -        Good for visibility, vitalizing, sweat. It is cool, heavy, dry,

laxative, good for heart and diuretic. Helpful in kidney disorders and controls the secretion of bile. Pumpkin can be preserved even for a year.

Use             -        Only use ripe pumpkin. While taking juice never discard its

seeds and should be used with the pulp.

Benefits      -        The juice with seeds is helpful for maintaining health and the

prostrate gland. Its juice neutralizes effect of poison. It good is for removing worms and for digestive tract. It cures acidity. Its juice is diuretic. It gives relief in swelling, kidney-stone and diabetes.

 

Tomatoes

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, carbohydrates, Minerals, Calcium,

Vitamin A, Vitamin C. It also contain some Vitamins B1 and B2  This is rich in Vitamin A.

Qualities     -        This was brought from South Africa. It is light, lubricous,

warm, stimulant, appetiser, laxative and a remover of cough and windiness.

Use             -        Widely used as salad, soft drink, as soup.

Benefits      -        It has low content of carbohydrate hearse very good for

Diabetic patients & for reducing weight. Juice clauses the stomach and intestines. This is useful in kidney disorder, indigestion, gas and constipation, liver diseases, anemic, patients. Tomato soup can be taken in fever. Tomato juice is helpful in eye problem & cancer.

 

Turmeric

 

Contents     -        Water, Protein, Fat, carbohydrates, Minerals, Calcium,

Phosphorous, Iron, Vitamin A,

Qualities     -        It is bitter, pungent, warm, stimulant cleanser & remover of

Cough, swelling & gas, dry in nature. It heels wounds, stimulates lever, promotes luster of body and promotes colour of the skin. It is useful in cold, cough, gas, blood-impurities, leucoderma, diabetes, wounds, skin-diseases, swelling, anemia, dyspcsia, etc.

Use             -        May be taken in powder form or in juice form.

Benefits      -        This is excellent for lever. This has curative effect more than

other. Turmeric wards of old age disease. Good in chromic jaundice. Turmeric juice is a purifier of the blood and remover of cough. Juice is helpful in glaucoma, corneal ulcer and conjunctivitis. Turmeric powder mixed with warm milk gives sure relief in cough & cold. It is useful for sprained and swollen body parts. Very beneficial in skin disease, purifies blood & breast milk. Massage with butter milk gives luster & cures skin disease.

 

White Gourd (DUDHI)

Contents   -        Water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus,

Iron. This has low carbohydrates, hence may be used in diabetes.

Quality       -        Cool, laxative, nutritive and delicious.

                             Refreshing and good for the heart. It gives vigour, controls

Cough and the secretion of bile. 

Use             -        It is used as vegetables & juice.

Benefits      -        Juice mixed with honey is good for burning sensation in the

body & throat. It is useful in blood impurities, aliases, allergy, nose-bleeding, uric acid, constipation and blood acidity.

 

Bezil (Tulsi)

 Qualities     -        Bitter, pungent warm, light, appetizing and dry in nature. It

cures gas-trouble, cough, swelling, intestinal worms, vomiting, skin diseases & kidney disorders. It expels intestinal worms. Black bezil is considered superior to the white in merit. Due to its high usefulness, it was given religious value.

Use             -        Two three tea spoon of Benzil Juice mixed with any juice or

alone.

Benefits      -        Good nervous tonic, enhances memory power, kindles gastric

fire Benzil juice mixed with ginger juice & honey is medicine for fever, cough and asthma. Benzil Juice is specific remedy in malaria. Juice is applied on body cures allergy. A few drops of benzil – juice are helpful in the ear-trouble.

 

Fenugreek (Methi)

Qualities     -        Pungent, bitter and warm. It promotes bile, it is appetizing,

Light & dry. It is good in diarrhea, for heart. It expels gas. It is beneficial in dyspepsia, vomiting, cough, rheumatism, piles, intestinal worms. 

Use             -        As juice, soup or dry as spice.

Benefits      -        This is good in fever & dyspepsia. It gives relief in piles. This

Contains good amount of iron. It is very effective in anemia.

 

Coriander

Qualities     -        Fragrant, appetizing, digestive, cool, good vision, anti-bilious

and good for  heart. It is rich source of Vitamin A.

 

Use              -        For giving special flavour to the food paste-like sauce or juice

Has special advantage.                         

Benefit        -        As it contains Vitamin A, beneficial to the eyes.                                     

 

Spinach

Qualities     -        Pungent, Sweet, Digestible, Cool, and dry. It is easy to digest

and assimilative.  It is heavy and palatable. It eliminates cough, asthma and toxic elements.

Use             -        As vegetable, as soup but raw juice gives maximum benefits.

Benefits      -        The iron in spinach is easily digestible hence good in anemia. It

is good to reduce acidity good for health. It is diuretic and good      for bile          

disorders. It is effective against generic diseases.

NOTE:

Spinach contains salts of oxalic acid hence harmful to people likely to get kidney trouble.  

 

Parsely Mint (Pudina)

Qualities     -        Palatable, heavy, lubricious, warm, appetizing, constipating and

good for heart. It is good for expelling gas, in cough, dyspepsia, dysentery and diarrhea.

Use              -        Juice and raw with vegetables. It can be added with any juice.

Benefits      -        Very good for abdominal troubles (mint juice added with lemon

juice and honey). Vitamins E of Mint is very helpful for body. Mixture of juice, mint-juice, onion juice and lemon juice makes special remedy for cholera. Applying mint juice in ringworm has beneficial effects.
