Food Combination For Easy Digestion

1.       There is no enzyme in stomach to digest carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are

digested either in month or in the small intestine. When carbohydrates are masticated properly enzymes in the saliva in the month carry out partial digestion.  

2.       Proteins’ digestion takes place in stomach.

3.       Enzymes in saliva can act only in an alkaline medium. If we take pickles with bread, the enzymes in the saliva get de-activated.

 

          Keeping above in view, the foods may be selected as given below.

 

1.    Carbohydrates should never be mixed with sour foods.

 

2.    Large amount of proteins and large amount of carbohydrates should not be taken in the same meals.  

3.      Large amounts of proteins should not be taken simultaneously with large amounts of fats.  

4.     Proteins should not be taken with sour fruits. Example lemon juice or tomatoes added to pulses.
